Becoming a counsellor was a natural trajectory of over 22 years working as a wellbeing therapist with clients with a wide range of issues such as anxiety, depression, lack of confidence, stress issues and bereavement to name a few. For as long as I can remember, my overriding passion has been to guide, encourage and support others as they navigate stressful and difficult times in their lives. My private practice is based in Rugby, however, clients are based in Leamington Spa, Warwick, Coventry, Daventry, and Warwickshire area. Being able to work with clients online and in person has also enable clients from other parts of the UK to access counselling.
The four-year journey of becoming a professionally qualified counsellor included a deep dive into exploring my own issues. After all, if I have not worked through my “own stuff”, how could I work effectively with a client while holding onto unresolved issues? I worked for four years online and in person as a trauma informed counsellor within a sexual abuse, and rape organisation in Warwickshire. In the same four years, I also worked in a parenting charity counselling clients with differing complex mental health needs.
I spent a large part of my life living in different countries around the world and established a successful thriving wellbeing business in the Middle East. Living abroad allowed me to experience other cultures and traditions. As such, I value cultural diversity and enjoy working multiculturally and counselling third-culture individuals.
The challenges of life have also been part of my own experience. These include leaving an abusive marriage, miscarriages, divorce, illness and the death of loved ones. Maybe I have stood where you are now, although our experiences will be uniquely different.
